Health and wellbeing meeting

Yesterday we supported the Health and Wellbeing meeting in partnership with Active Surrey, helping to inform our partners about what has been happening here in Stanwell and how we can work together to support our residents to get more active. For us, this is not just about putting on free sports sessions — it is about understanding real lives, real barriers and real needs within our community. It is about looking at different options, resources and opportunities that can help people access healthier choices, including food, wellbeing support and everyday ways to feel better connected, supported and included.

One of the meetings yesterday involved walking around Stanwell with our partners, so they could see our community from within the community — not just from reports, meetings or statistics, but through the eyes of the people who live here. You may have seen a bit of humour on my Facebook, where I was in the skate park and joking about begging for my coffee — and as many of you know, I do love my coffee! But jokes aside, the day meant a lot because it gave us the chance to show the heart of Stanwell: the challenges, the strengths, the pride, the humour, and the voices that often do not get heard enough.

Our role is to make sure that feedback from the community is shared honestly and respectfully, so partners can better understand what support needs to look like in real life. We are proud to stand alongside our residents, speak up for what matters, and work with partners who are willing to listen, learn and help create positive change for Stanwell.
